NASHiCS - National Learning & Development Forum 20th June 2013
Our Lead Assessor for Health & Social Care and SVT Care Ltd Director Joe Pope traveled over to the Concorde Centre at Manchester Airport for the NASHiCS National Learning & Development Forum.
What does NASHiCS stand for?
The National Association of Safety in Health Care Services
Who are NASHiCS and what do they do ?
They were formed in 2004 from the National Social Care Health & Safety forum. They work with regulatory bodies such as the HSE and the CQC to promote and help improve safety within Health & Social Care settings.
They also provide a forum for members, individuals and organisations who are involved in any aspect of safety and health. They provide a forum for the exchange and sharing of information, experiences and expertise.
Here's what Joe had to say about the event:
20th June 2013 - saw the ONLY UK Learning and Development Forum that was dedicated to everyone who has a responsibility for Health & Safety in Social Care. The day’s event was held at the beautifully designed Concorde Centre at Manchester Airport and held right underneath the glorious aircraft itself!
The day’s events were planned to incorporate expert speakers from NASHiCS themselves, the Kings Fund, HSE, Anchor Trust and NICE to name but a few. There were also “breakout sessions’’ that delegates were able to attend - these included the topics of Malnutrition, Health & Wellbeing, Infection Control, Legal & Fire Safety and Medication.
To break the day up delegates were invited to the Safety in Care Awards Luncheon where there were 3 categories of awards being presented for the Company of the Individual of the Year award, Learning & Training Award andBest Practice Award.
The day was good, interesting, full of information from a huge variety of people, relaxed, extremely well planned out and you also got a chance to look around the parked up Concorde that you spent all day sitting underneath!
Thank you Joe sounds like you had a great day!
